On
December 4, 1848 a meeting was called by a number of interested
Masons from Chicopee for the purpose of forming a Masonic Lodge
in Chicopee. The meeting was held in the Odd Fellows Lodge on
Exchange Street. Brother Edward Rainey was elected chairman of
this meeting. A petition was signed by twenty Brothers present
and forwarded to the Massachusetts Grand Lodge in Boston for
approval to create a Masonic Lodge in Chicopee. On December 4,
1848 Rufus Whittier, was elected the first Master of Chicopee
Lodge. Alpheus Nettleton elected Senior Warden and Lucius
Harthan was elected Junior Warden. Chicopee Lodge was instituted
by the Grand Lodge of Masons in Massachusetts on December
22,1848.

Chicopee Lodge as
of December 28, 2008, Chicopee Lodge was assigned to the 27th
Masonic District. The lodge holds regular communications
on the second Tuesday of the month and special communications
are held at the will and pleasure of the Worshipful Master.
Chicopee Lodge is currently meeting at the Mount Holyoke Masonic
building on 15 North Main Street - South Hadley, Massachusetts. |
